SUSAN WAKIL HEALTH BUILDING, SYDNEY UNIVERSITY
WHAT WE DID
The Susan Wakil Health Building is a multi-discipline medical education facility located on Sydney University’s Camperdown Campus. The building features a wide range of spaces that include clinical simulation rooms, lecture theatres and a medical imaging suite. As such, the ventilation design also featured a large cross section of equipment. The clinical simulation areas and teaching spaces are fitted with variable volume air handling systems, each including a series of VAV boxes, constant air volume boxes (CAVs) and in-line duct re-heat coils. The lecture theatres feature low velocity floor mounted air diffusers which required a multitude of small adjustments to their internal damper system in order to achieve the correct air volume. The medical imaging suite features a stand-alone ventilation system which had to be carefully tuned in accordance with the MRI manufacturers guidelines.
