NEW CAMPBELLTOWN HOSPITAL

WHAT WE DID

Completed in 2023, the New Campbelltown Hospital saw the construction of a new clinical services building, a new mental health unit, a new emergency department and the refurbishment of facilities in the old hospital.

Our contract included commissioning the mental health unit floors, as well as setting up the smoke zone pressurisation system in the refurbished area of the hospital. The mental health areas required commissioning 8 floors, each with a dedicated plant room containing several multi-zone variable volume air handing systems equipped with VAVs and modulating outside air control.

Commissioning the smoke zone pressurisation system required us to complete an audit of all existing fan systems and associated essential air handling systems in the old hospital. Each of these systems were tested to assess their maximum capacity and any system not capable of meeting design airflow requirements was either repaired or replaced. As the old hospital continued to operate throughout commissioning, all testing and configuring of smoke zone control systems had to be undertaken with extensive care and planning so as not to disrupt hospital operations.
