GRIFFITH BASE BASE HOSPITAL REDEVELOPMENT
WHAT WE DID
The Griffith Base Hospital redevelopment saw the construction of a brand new, three-storey clinical services building which would ultimately house all the hospital’s major services under one roof. The build featured new operating theatres, recovery areas, maternity suites and pressure controlled isolation rooms for infection control.
Commissioning the facility involved setting up several multi-zone variable volume air handling systems, all equipped with VAVs, chilled and heating hot water coils (with face-bypass capability) and outside air metering via velocity sensors and PID control. The ventilation systems serving the operating theatres and surrounding scrub-in and sterile areas had to be set-up to provide a series of cascading pressure boundaries to maximise infection control between theatre spaces.

ABOUT THE HOSPITAL
Following the redevelopment, Griffith Base Hospital became the second largest hospital in the Riverina, second only to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital. The $250 million dollar, 4-Star Green Star project saw the addition of three new operating theatres, new maternity suites, a new emergency department and an oncology clinic. In addition, the expansion included a non-clinical services building, a new car park and a main-entry forecourt.
