AIR BALANCING
R & R Quigley provides air balancing services for both domestic & commercial air conditioning systems. Utilising a range of calibrated instruments we are able to take accurate air flow measurements from a variety of grille / register types. Adjustments are made via mechanical dampers to ensure each air register is either supplying or exhausting the correct air flow rate according to project specifications. All balancing is completed according to the NEBB & CIBSE codes of practice.
WATeR BALANCING
We also provide water balancing services for chilled, heating hot water, condenser water & domestic hot water hydronic systems. Utilising calibrated IMI instrumentation we are able to accurately set flow rates through coils, heat exchangers & pressure vessels. We are also able to conduct pump capacity tests & velocity flushing on newly completed or upgraded systems.
DUCT PRESSURE TESTING
With our custom built, portable duct pressure test rig, we are able to conduct duct leakage testing at 500 Pa on sections up to 250 sq. meters in external surface area. Should the measured leakage rate exceed specified tolerances, a smoke machine can be brought in to assist with leak detection & rectification.
FIRE SYSTEMS & ESSENTIAL SERVICES
Correct commissioning & regular auditing of a building’s essential mechanical services is one of the most important elements of a building’s safety & ongoing serviceability. R & R Quigley provides testing and commissioning services for a range of essential services including:
– smoke-spill systems
– fire stair pressurisation
– PC-2 pressure control zones.
COMMISSIONING PLANS
R & R Quigley is able to prepare project specific commissioning plans and commissioning methodologies in which all procedures, projected timeframes, equipment used and standards to be observed are documented for reference and review by consulting engineers and project management. These plans will align directly with the mechanical scope of works document and can also include templates for test reporting, defect logging and work progress tracking.
AUDITS OF EXISTING PLANT
Capacity tests, plant condition audits as well as air & water terminal flow measurements should be conducted regularly on mechanical systems to maximise their lifespan. One of our technicians can be booked to attend site and record all technical information pertaining to the item of plant in question, make an assessment of plant condition and provide recommendations for defect rectification if necessary. Total air & water flow measurements can be taken as well as terminal measurements in the field to determine the integrity of the terminal balance. These measurements can also reveal the existence of duct air leakage that may be reducing system efficiency and performance.
COMMISSIONING MANAGEMENT
On large-scale construction projects it may be required that multiple commissioning sub-contractors be engaged to ensure project deadlines are met. Should multiple teams be working on the same project at the same time, R & R Quigley can provide commissioning managers to ensure coordination of personnel and maximise efficiency of the commissioning process. Progress reports, timeframe projections, defects rectified and outstanding are all documented and communicated to the principle contractor(s) on a daily basis.
